Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome to the first bonus episode of Madam. You know, when we're putting these episodes together, sometimes we have to cut out certain stories, not because they're not amazing, because pretty much every story that Julie tells is amazing but usually we just have to cut it because of editing or story flow or time or whatever. So we thought we'd release those stories as a series of bonus episodes. So for this most recent episode, one of those stories was about how Julie met her biological father. It's a great story and we wanted to give you a chance to hear it. So here it is. We wanted to give you a chance to hear it, so here it is when my mom got a job.

Speaker 2:

She got a job at some cocktail bar or restaurant or something and I was always afraid she wasn't coming home. So I'd sit in the corner with a blanket in there and I'd say is my mom coming home soon? And I was thinking, what if she doesn't? He wouldn't answer, he didn't talk to me.

Speaker 3:

Did you? Were you always like rebellious, always. How were you rebellious?

Speaker 2:

Anything I wasn't supposed to do. It seemed like I did it and my mother said, no, I did it Anyway. Yeah, I'm sure it was a lot to handle at that time?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I think it was because your mom was very strict Roman Catholic, I know she was trying to make up for her mistakes.

Speaker 2:

Because you've got to remember, in the 50s, I was born in the 57th. You have to remember that. Well, you can't remember, but I'm telling you One day you remember. No, but it's just that they did not like it was unmarried, it was just like a, you know. They did not like it was unmarried, it was just like a, you know. Oh, my god, she's not married. She had a baby and blah, blah, blah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, illegitimate child yeah, it was like a really big deal, yeah, every time when I'm take your bastard with you, you know, with my mom and like, and I knew I was feeling like maybe this guy is, I hated, hated him in a way. But then I realized once my grandmother told me he's not your father anyway. And I was like he's not and she's like no. And then I met my father finally, you met your father.

Speaker 3:

How was that that was?

Speaker 2:

weird, because he raised show horses in Kentucky. He was a musician. She met him. But then I guess, you know, I was maybe 10 or 11 when I met him, when my grandmother told me and immediately I wanted to meet him, right, and the first time he didn't even show up to meet me. So I was real disappointed. But then I finally met him. He took me to his place in Kentucky, alexandria, kentucky, and he said oh, this is my wife, this is I'm showing, I'm showing her how to ride horses, right, I'm training her to ride horses, and doesn't she look like our daughter Susan? It was like, oh my gosh, I was not supposed to say anything, right, I was not supposed to say anything that he was my father because he was married with a family.

Speaker 3:

But did he know that you were?

Speaker 2:

his daughter. My mom called him and said she wants to meet you and so he took me to. You know, ride horses and stuff like that. But I guess he gave lessons and stuff like that. So he told his wife oh, I'm giving her lessons, riding lessons and this. You know, doesn't she look a lot like Susie? That was his other daughter, and I did. I looked a lot like her, but they never knew. And I did. I looked a lot like her, but they never knew. And that made me sad too, because they were my brothers and sisters, Right, but I couldn't say anything.

Speaker 3:

What was your?

Speaker 2:

dad, like Did you enjoy him? Yeah, I met him a few times. He was just like. You know, raised horses was a musician before he was. You know, knew a lot of people, hustlers and stuff like that, but he was not. You know he knew a lot of people, hustlers and stuff like that, but he was not, he was okay.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so you had other siblings as well.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, on both sides His side didn't know and my mom's side knew.

Speaker 3:

What did your mom and grandma think about you meeting him?

Speaker 2:

They're like all men are no fucking good. They're all no good. The only one one thing blah, blah, blah. And if you want to meet your father, meet him. You know, but don't expect much because you know, man, period, because if you say anything you'll ruin the whole family. You can never open your mouth about stuff like that now.

Speaker 1:

We'll be releasing another bonus episode early next week where Julie tells the story of fleeing to California before the cops arrested her in that incident at the Hustler Club and how she took on a new identity and some of the different characters that she met and became involved with then.

Speaker 2:

You know, like I went out to California on my own, I went to San Bernardino and then his, I was these diamond dealers from South Africa.

Speaker 1:
